All great ideas start with a love for something and VDubRadio is no exception. Founders Tony Smoove and Simon C were already successful DJs and producers under their band name Love To Funk band and were regulars at VW shows in their Volkswagens. After one particular weekend at a show the idea to create a radio station, bringing the Volkswagen and camping community together was born. They wanted to combine their love of music and the Volkswagen and camping lifestyle.
VDubRadio had humble beginnings but grew quickly thanks to the dedication of the Co-founders, DJs, presenters, sponsors, car clubs, small businesses, VDubPrint.co and listeners; all of whom believed and shared the passion for what was being created.
3 years into the story Vic Whitehouse, who had been a DJ on the station from the very start, was asked to join Tony and Simon to become the 3rd member of the management team and further support the growth of the station.
VDubRadio has brought together the global Volkswagen and camping community, supporting to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities, keeping people connected within a pandemic, providing music and interviews from across the scene including A-list celebrities. We also took our unique roadshow to the largest Volkswagen festivals in Europe and have been booked by Volkswagen themselves!
VDubRadio has now built up a global following and has captured the imagination of an even larger audience of people from wider communities outside the Volkswagen and camping scene including VanLife to skateboarding, surfing and beyond. We have brought people together that have gone on to build lifelong friendships as one global family, with our music and content providing the soundtrack.
VDubRadio has evolved and is now more than just a radio station, we are a lifestyle brand for those that walk an alternative path. We are your alternative lifestyle radio station!
