RADIO RULES
• We request that everyone takes accountability of creating an inclusive, professional, non-competitive culture. We have a diverse team and this makes us stronger. We are one team all working towards making VDubRadio the best community radio station. There are no top slots or preferred DJs/presenters. We aim to give everyone opportunity to demonstrate their skills and a moment to shine!
• Health and Safety is our top priority. Non DJ(s)/presenter(s) are not permitted on stage at any time during roadshows/events. Only exception being people escorted by the DJ/presenter in a safe manner for official purposes, e.g; being interviewed.
• Only the performing DJ(s)/presenter(s) should be using the mic during live broadcast/at shows. Only with explicit permission of the DJ(s)/presenter performing, should other DJs/presenters use the mic.
• If asked to assist on a show, please keep your distance from all mics when other DJ’s/presenters are speaking on air. Background noise (people chatting) can be picked up on mics. Treat every mic as live!
• Backstage area at shows / Designated camping area - the only people permitted backstage / or allowed in our designated camping area at events are DJs/presenters and people authorised by the Station Management Team.
• Do not talk about politics, religion or anything else that may be offensive, divisive, ‘too close to the mark’ or non- inclusive whilst on air.
• DJs/presenters are reminded to be aware of their own language while on are on air and not to swear. If you do swear, you could be banned from road shows/events, being allowed to broadcast live or even removed from the station.
• No use of explicit content on daytime shows (up to 9pm UK). After 9pm, keep to a minimal. Regardless of time of day, if there is a cleaner version of a track always play the cleaner version- If it has the potential to cause offence, do not play it. If you are unsure please contact the Station Management Team.
• Getting intoxicated/drunk before your show is prohibited. If this happens you could be banned from road shows/events, being allowed to broadcast live or even removed from the station.
• Anyone assumed by the Station Management Team to be under the influence of drugs whilst on air, at events or shows, will be cut off air and will not be permitted to perform. This could also result in you being banned from broadcasting live, asked to leave the event and removed from the station.
• Whilst at events, shows and on air, you are representing VDubRadio. As such you are expected to act in a professional manner at all times. Anyone behaving in a way that is deemed unprofessional by the Station Management Team or has the potential to bring the station into disrepute, will be removed from the station.
• Any information that is shared with you about the running of the VDubRadio is to be kept confidential. Anyone found openly discussing VDubRadio business with anyone outside of the station without prior consent of the Station Management Team will be removed from the station.
• Show cover must be authorised by the Station Management Team prior to being arranged amongst DJs/presenters themselves.
• Rumours - If you hear any please be our ears on the ground and report them to us so we can help stop the spread and squash any untrue information as this can damage the stations reputation/brand.
• Monitor your audio levels throughout your show and do not hit the red the level meters – your show will sound distorted and you will sound unprofessional. The Station Management Team may even cut your show short if your show is distorted.
• For live streaming, please ensure you connect into the station 5 minutes before your show to ensure you start your set on time. Consistent lateness or absence without prior notification may lead to you being removed from the station.
• Make sure you check the radio stream once you are connected to confirm you are live and broadcasting.
• Use the Jingles provided in the Radio station pack.
• DJ’s/presenters should not promote any businesses, promotion or charity that is not associated with VDubRadio. If you’re unsure, please speak to the Station Management Team for clarification.
• Please refer all VDubRadio business enquiries to the Station Management Team. Do not agree to anything without prior consent from the station management team.
• Please do not contact show organisers directly without speaking to the Station Management Team first. We are in touch with a lot of show organisers already and need to be the main point of contact
• If approached directly by show organisers please refer them to Station Management Team so we can talk to them about booking the roadshow.
• Using VDubRadio’s brand for personal gain is strictly prohibited. If DJ’s/presenters are found profiting, receiving benefits/gratis from using the VDubRadio brand and/or promising promotion of companies for such gain, they will be removed from the station with immediate effect.
• DJ’s/presenters are strongly discouraged to take on personal gigs at VW festivals. VW festivals are the stations lifeline. If DJ’s/presenters take on these gigs there’s a potential missed opportunity for the station being present in it’s entirety.
• Dual Radio shows on competing or highlighted radio stations are not permitted. Highlighted radio stations include: Buzz Beats, Lowest FM, Alpha Wave and Dub Frequency (this is not an exhaustive list). If you intend to do a Radio show on another station please advise the Station Management Team of your intention to clarify if the station is consider a competitor.
• Pre-recorded shows should be uploaded to the VDubRadio DJ Upload Portal no later than 72 hours before the airing of the show, unless otherwise agreed in advance by the Station Management Team. Late shows may not be played.
• Facebook/VDubRadio Lounge/Mixcloud TV Live Streaming of your show is only allowed during your scheduled time.
• Please support your other DJ’s/presenters , show them some love. We are not in competition with each other. Every DJ/presenter has an important part to play on the station.
• Social media promotion/spamming - Please be conscious/considerate on how you promote your show and always get permission when needed.
• VDubRadio Facebook Lounge – To prevent this group becoming a DJ/presenter advert group we ask you to follow the below guidance:
1x Social media post promoting your show in the lounge on the day of your show
Your Mixcloud link should be posted on the same post in the comments and not a separate post.
We still welcome you to create other fun relevant topics in the lounge to help engage our listeners/members and keep the conversations going.
• VDubRadio logos are strictly to be used for social media only. Our logos cannot be used to print your own merchandise, stickers, personal clothing, etc.
• We do not disclose individual listening figures for shows.
• The Station Management Team reserves the rights to override regular radio schedules for special events featuring VDubRadio.
• Last but not least, have fun! Keep your show good vibes only.
If you have any questions about these rules please speak to the station manager.
